Dr. Natalie Thompson Elite Fear-Free Certified

Dr. Natalie Thompson’s love of animals started at a young age, growing up in San Antonio with a tough cat and a timid Shih Tzu. Then that love expanded to pet ferrets, snakes, parakeets, cockatiels, rabbits, and conures and going horseback riding (hunter/jumper). She thought she wanted to go into academia/research and earned her Bachelors in Genetics and Master’s in Microbiology at Texas A&M, but sitting alone in a quiet lab was not ideal. She pivoted and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from A&M in 2015.

Her husband wanted to move back to Austin, where he had attended UT, and Dr. T was ready for a city to support her hobbies of succulents and indoor plants, hiking, bird watching, and collecting books and records. They routinely can be found at a music venue or hiking a trail or knitting in a coffee shop. Her little human loves growing up with Lab/Pyrenees mix Finn, Aussie/Heeler mix Lottie, ball pythons Tohil and Kukulka’n, and the occasional Aussie foster dog.

Dr. T has her Elite Fear-Free Certification and wants to help your pets lead long, happy, healthy lives, caring not only about their physical health but also their emotional well-being. She takes her experiences teaching in grad school to educate and partner with pet parents making medical decisions for their loved ones. She has a passion for ophthalmology, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery, and loves traveling for CE to keep learning more about veterinary medicine (and to get new tattoos).
